30gb 5th gen Video ipod problem. Help?
OK I've tried a lot of things, I had to re-place a faulty battery in the thing and now when i plug it in and let it charge, nothing. It powers up, the HD seems to relay and click, begins to spin for a little, then i get the sad face, then bye bye. (it repeats this every few minutes, obviously a reboot loop). I had some luck, i tunes and windows recognized it and i did a restore, I had it in disk mode at some point last night as well. Did the resets, played around with the click wheel, everything, even took the HD ribbon out and back in. Ugh!, I think the drive is either corrupted beyond saving, or its HD mechanical problem, but I doubt its a physical problem because the HD ran for a good hour or two last night. Anyone know how to format these things another way... wipe it squeaky clean? If not, I'm running a powerful magnet against it and strapping it to a cherry bomb and watching it blow up in my backyard.
